Iqra Islamic Store ("we", "us", "our") respects your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect when you visit www.iqraislamicstore.com, order from us, or contact us by phone or WhatsApp, and how we use and protect it. We handle personal data in line with Uganda's Data Protection and Privacy Act, 2019 and its regulations.

1. Information we collect

When you order or contact us, we may collect:

  • Your name, phone number, WhatsApp number and email address

  • Your delivery address, landmarks and directions

  • Details of your order: the books and products you buy, order history and preferences

  • Payment information, such as your Mobile Money number or transaction reference. We do not store full card details. Card payments are processed securely by our payment provider.

  • Messages you send us by WhatsApp, phone, email or our website forms

  • Account details, if you create an account on our site

When you browse our website, we and our website provider (Wix) automatically collect basic technical information. This includes your device type, browser, IP address, the pages you visit, and cookies (see section 6).

2. How we use your information

We use your information to:

  • Process, pack and deliver your orders

  • Contact you about your order, shipping fees, delivery times and any delays

  • Arrange payment, including cash or Mobile Money on delivery

  • Answer your questions and provide customer support

  • Send you updates about new books, offers and seasonal collections, but only if you have agreed to receive them. You can opt out at any time.

  • Improve our website, product range and service

  • Meet our legal, tax and accounting obligations

We only collect what we need for these purposes.

3. Who we share it with

We do not sell or rent your personal information. We only share it where needed to serve you:

  • Delivery partners: riders and couriers (local and international) receive your name, phone number and address so they can deliver your order.

  • Payment providers: Mobile Money and card payment services process your payments.

  • Website and technology providers: our website is hosted by Wix, and we use WhatsApp and email to communicate with you.

  • Authorities: we disclose information where the law requires it.

4. International transfers

Some of our service providers, such as our website host, store data on servers outside Uganda. For international orders, we share your details with couriers in your country. Where data is transferred outside Uganda, we use reputable providers who apply appropriate safeguards to protect it.

5. Children's privacy

Our books and products are made for children, but our website and ordering services are meant for parents, guardians, schools and other adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children. If you believe a child has given us their personal information without a parent's or guardian's consent, please contact us and we will delete it.

6. Cookies

Our website uses cookies, which are small files stored on your device. They keep the site working properly, remember your cart and preferences, and help us understand how visitors use the site. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, but some parts of the site may not work properly without them.

7. How we protect your information

We take reasonable steps to keep your information safe from loss, misuse and unauthorised access. Our website is secured with SSL encryption, and we limit access to customer information to people who need it to process your order. No online system is completely secure, but we work to protect your data and will act promptly if a problem occurs.

8. How long we keep it

We keep your information only as long as we need it to fulfil your orders, provide support, and meet our legal, tax and accounting obligations. After that, we delete it or make it anonymous.

9. Your rights

Under Ugandan law, you have the right to:

  • Ask what personal information we hold about you and request a copy

  • Ask us to correct information that is wrong or incomplete

  • Ask us to delete your information where we no longer need it

  • Object to us using your information for marketing

  • Withdraw your consent at any time, where we rely on it

To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details below. We will respond within a reasonable time. If you are not satisfied with how we handle your information, you can complain to the Personal Data Protection Office (PDPO) in Uganda.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will always be on this page, with the date it was last updated.
